Memory Cushions in Newcastle — made from a loved one’s clothes

The keepsake that started it all. A soft cushion made from clothes you can’t part with — to hold, lean on, and keep near.

Items needed
Often a single garment is enough for one cushion — share what you have and I’ll advise.
Fabrics
Shirts, jumpers, cardigans, dresses, dressing gowns and more — most garments work.

A memory cushion is where my own story began. When I lost my dad, I couldn’t bear to give his clothes away — so I made a cushion from them. It sits on my bed to this day, and every time I see it, it brings him back to me for a moment.

That’s what a memory cushion can be: something soft and ordinary that holds someone extraordinary. You can rest it on a bed or a favourite chair, hold it close on the hard days, and keep it for years to come.

How many garments do I need?

Often just one. A single shirt, jumper or dress is usually enough for a cushion. If you’d like to bring a few pieces together — perhaps from more than one person — that’s lovely too. Tell me what you have and I’ll let you know what works.

Can you keep buttons, collars and pockets?

Yes — and I’d encourage it. The little details are often what we remember most: the pocket they kept their glasses in, the buttons on a favourite cardigan. I can keep these as part of the cushion so it feels truly theirs.

What sizes are available?

[CONFIRM] I make cushions in more than one size. Let me know your fabric and where you’d like to keep it, and I’ll talk you through the choices.
